Christine Taylor Shines On Arrested Development
Actress Christine Taylor shines on the hit television series Arrested Development. The show, which was a cancelled after three seasons on Fox, is now getting a second life on Netflix. The rental giant will carry a total of fifteen new episodes. Taylor has had a recurring role on the series since 2004. The actress makes her triumphant return in the critically-acclaimed show’s fourth season.
Arrested Development follows the misadventures of the affluent Bluth family. The family’s real estate business is put in jeopardy thanks to George Bluth’s (Jeffrey Tambor) suspect business deals. George’s son, Michael (Jason Bateman), now runs the company and attempts to hold the disfunctional family together. Taylor portrays Sally Sitwell, who was once romantically linked to Michael.
Taylor is happy to be appearing on the show once again. “When I got the call about the show, it was very exciting,” said the actress to The Morning Call. “Just like everyone else, I’d heard rumors that there might be a movie or more episodes. Last summer, they called and said they wanted to bring me back. But that was all they told me. They just said, ‘Are you going to be around Los Angeles during these dates?’”
There are a number of high profile stars making guest appearances on the show, including Liza Minelli. Taylor enjoyed working with Minelli and series regular Portia de Rossi. “It was so much fun. I’ve have always been a big fan of the show and its characters. So there was nothing cooler then and now than to get the opportunity to spend time with Liza. She’s sharp as a tack and has a great sense of humor. And I’ve known Portia for years. So the three of us had a blast.”
To prepare for her role, the actress watched old episodes of the series. “It’s never easy looking at yourself ten years ago,” she continued. “Forget watching Hey Dude where I had to look at myself twenty years ago. Then I could say, ‘Youth, that was nice.’ But the best part about watching the episodes was that they reminded me of how over-the-top and crazy the show was, and that’s what I loved about it. It was just so outrageous and there were no limits on what you could do. I laughed a lot when I watched it again.”
Taylor first gained noteriety as Melody Hanson on the hit Nickelodeon show Hey Dude. She rose to fame with her spot-on performance as Marcia Brady in the films: The Brady Bunch Movie and A Very Brady Sequel. The actress also starred on the short-lived television series Party Girl. Her additional film credits include: Calendar Girl, Here Come The Munsters, The Craft, The Wedding Singer, Zoolander, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Room 6, Tropic Thunder and License To Wed. Her additional television credits include: Dallas, Saved By The Bell, Blossom, Ellen, Murphy Brown, Seinfeld, Friends, Spin City, Curb Your Enthusiasm, My Name Is Earl and Hannah Montana Forever.
Season 4 of Arrested Development is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
